About Author

My name is Judith Lynn Kalinin Pruett Blankenship King and I am a life-long poet and author of countless other previously unpublished works 🙂  Always staying true to my poetic nature and never choosing a back-up career despite obscurity and a couple of lifetimes worth of publishing house rejection, I’ve supported myself with a variety of odd jobs including (but not limited to):  bartender, motel manager, waitress, pot scrubber, proof reader, ornament maker, fish market attendant, house painter, electrician apprentice, cook, math tutor, dietary aid, nurse’s assistant and caregiver.

Throughout the years I have participated in open mic poetry readings in Monterey, CA; Sedona, Arizona; New York City; San Francisco; and South San Francisco, CA, as the featured reader.

Between 1999 and 2004 I published nine chapbooks of my own poetry, personally distributing over 1500 copies all over the United States and abroad, free of charge.  Also a self-taught numerologist, I’ve been doing numerology charts for over 30 years, and have never charged a penny for the readings.

Other passions include:  gemology, natural medicine, Native American & ancient history, stargazing, archaeology, the animal kingdom, angels & saints, ancestral research, gardening, the Wild West, vintage machinery and the Tarot.  First & foremost, however, is my undying faith in the will of God and the merciful love of Jesus.. He is my heart, my Lord and many times my only friend.

I have in recent years completed writing the biography of American comedian Dan Rowan; a labor of love which I researched and worked on for an entire decade and, although I’d always hoped to have it published, am simply contented now that it is a finished project; the true story of an amazing human being, which may or may not someday be released upon the world.

At this point of life, in this world today it has become apparent that my “fear of success” was put into place for a very good reason: never wanting to sell out, to comprimise my voice or vision and sign my soul away to the alluring “industry of fame” which so many rush madly toward in their burning quest to be noticed (and to make money).  No, that, I’ve discovered, is not for me; otherwise, I would have pursued relentlessly until it was mine.  I just never wanted it badly enough to keep trying; always somehow sabotaging myself and the rather creative ways of seeking out possible patrons, when the possibility became even close to real.  Anything that I am passionate about, to monetize or make some sort of profession out of it, well…that just kills it for me!  And now I know why, and now I thank the Good Lord for my “invisible” existence, all the while continuing to write poetry, memoirs and many other home-spun creative projects, simply because it is what makes me feel most alive.  And whenever I am able to share my work through any means such as this blog, it is a blessing in itself.   My first self-published memoir, “Blue Star Exploding”, is  accessible for free in ebook form here.

I  currently reside in Northern Nevada with my little family of four-leggeds, living a blissfully simple life on this high desert plateau, watching the world go insane!  To you, whoever you are, who may have stumbled across this website & this page:  blessings in your many endeavors; never forsake your own true heart.

HI Judith.. Thanks for visiting my blog. Seems we share some common interests. I look at your picture and I think… dang.. you could be my cousin as I see a familial resemblance. Anyway, to day I leave my home and move to another after 10 years. I am in a 1 year, which is my life/soul number. In Tarot that is the Magician, and I like to add in the other Major Arcana that add to 1… The Sun, and the Wheel of Fortune. Clearly, I could ramble on about this, cause it’s some ridiculous hour in the A.m. and I’m preparing for the movers with a bit of avoidance… I’ll visit again when I’m feeling stable in my new home. peace to you… jeanne

That is SO cool you see familial resemblence in my pic!! I sometimes see that with people I’ve never before met, it’s usually in the eyes and so intense, and I always figure it to be some past life connection or relation, like family on some soul level (I guess all of humanity is family on some soul level, if we get right down to it) I agree we have some common views. I truly enjoyed your blog and poetry, really, and will scoot back over soon! Peace to you as well, and many blessings on your move.

HI… thanks for your blessings. I know!.. there is that past life connection thing. I love it when it happens. I very much enjoy your blog too. I do believe we are all connected on some soul level. Heck.. we breathe the same air, roll around in the same elements. I wrote about that today.
so… nice staying connected. peace and bright blessings to you Judith.
    jeanne.

Thank you Jeanne…I’m glad for our connection!

  10. Hi Judith, many thanks for the kind visit to my small world of poetry…I wish you all the best for your book and will hope one day to read it…I look forward to reading your blogs as poetry is my way of letting out all the sadness which is all around us and hope to reach out and leave a footprint to say I’ve been here…Love and light always…Lynn

Your passion for writing is amazing, most people force themselves to abandon their love for the pen and paper just so they can fit into society and earn some money; I love the fact that despite doing a few jobs here and there you’ve stayed true to your calling. I’m a huge fan of your work and I intend to dedicate the first few days of my upcoming holiday going through all of your posts.

We share some interests in common 🙂 Although most of my friends and relatives consider my stargazing and thirst for ancestral knowledge weired.

I love your blog and how dedicated you are!

Thank you so much my friend…this recognition you have given me means alot to me. From the first time I read your blog I felt as though we had something in common. And for the record, I’ve been considered as a strange bird for all of my life…Whenever somebody calls me weird (and they do) I say “Thank You!!!”

  12. geezergirl1 says:

wondering how you are… Samhain arrives soon. All the wonderful magic of these days coming.
And the veil thins and the worlds merge. Happy Halloween Judith.

Thanks so much! I couldn’t agree more…Not only was he an extremely talented comic and greatest straight man ever, but also an all-around amazing human being…

Thank you for the visit and commenting. I’m not sure how you found me; then again, I’m not sure how any of us find each other online. However, and aapparently, I will be updating my blogroll.

I see your page here and I am reminded that I should have listened to my webmaster and made, in the very least, a generic biography. This is not to say yours is generic by any means, but simply to say that I suppose I enjoy my anonymity. She used to preach that to me as well; I was never really sure what she wanted me to write.

I apologize that my blog, at least appears to be–out of date. Actually I’m simply obsessive about the order of things so I back-date posts. Still, I cannot say that I have really made any recent posts except for the music videos.

You will have to excuse me. I am not a very good commenter or am I a very good reader; I am legally blind and visually handicapped. I just make it look easier than it is. I will have to get back and do some reading, unfortunately I say that to everyone and I never do so please don’t take offense if I don’t, at least not soon.

My life is complicated, at best, and I am currently enrolled in college. I had this wild idea that I was going to be an editor. However, I seem to have a better idea to torment my instructors because I seem to know more thani give myself credit for.

Which leads me to the self-abusive fact that I enrolled in two literature classes this semester, as well as Composition II. Therefore, I have stretched my time to its limits and I probably won’t be making any posts in the near future unless by some stroke of luck or genius I turn out a decent essay.

Poetically, however, I feel written out and uninspired. I don’t know, as I said, by life is more complicated than I would like, these days. Although, it is quite nice to meet someone who is and has been as productive as you appear to be.

Perhaps, you could build a fire under my muse, because it seems to have lost its way. although, I have been able to squeeze out a decent short story here and there, and from time to time and, fingers crossed, I might even cough up a decent Expressive essay to post in the next few weeks.

Thank you for the–pleasant distraction. I will add you to my blogroll and please, don’t let me not get back here and read and comment on some of your work.

    Peace.

Dear Charles–I found you through another blog, I think it was Samantha Mariah J, it’s hard to sometimes remember because I read so many of them. But I do remember that I was taken in by one of your comments there and that naturally lead me to your space. Your poetry is very romantic; you came across to me as quite the sentimental fellow!

Thanks for introducing yourself, for the feedback and encouraging comments, and for adding me to your blogroll. I’ve been writing poetry for almost 40 years–since I was a kid–and have endless archives of the stuff. Some that I post here are old pieces, some new…some old but resurrected and refined or rearranged, as my poems and other pieces are living, breathing expressive entities and are constantly evolving. Poetry to me is not something to be necessarily premeditated or forced to meet some sort of exterior prompt standard or category, rather, a spontaneous outpouring of life-energy, in reaction to life all around, through thoughts and words. At least that’s what feels right to me, it’s what keeps my sanity in place, simply a must. But sometimes I go for long stretches without writing one down, but they are constantly composed in my mind. Some have been living in my mind only for years, many times they just sort of write themselves there. I think when it’s time it will flow for you again as well. I also think it’s better–richer–not forced. The muse will visit you again if you stay true to your heart! Meanwhile, I’ll be back to check out some of your archives!

      Peace to you as well.

Hey there UnsungOne. Would you be interesting and trading a ‘reading’ for a reading? You could do your numbers or whatever… and I could do my tarot. What do ya think?

WOW! I am so un-computerish that I can’t believe I found you! This is a great site! Congratulations!!!!! I keep going back to watching your Dad push starting you on the motorcycle. I think I was actually there watching this at that time. I mean really visiting on that day. I have warm tears in my eyes full of love for you and your amazing Daddy. Oh, I also remember, not that long ago when we were at the “museum” when you and your mom and I went to Fisherman’s Wharf, not that long ago. I feel better about “how you are doing” Love Aunty Jan
