Tapestry of Poems 2

Coyote’s call rises up over an evasive horizon
It yelps & howls & cackles against my childhood visions
Toys with my sense of feeling
Jostles my understanding
Ancient trickster turns things over
It’s weird language decorates all I thought would have been
Turns things around & around again
For Coyote, the night is merely a dream

Happy frogs creak & squelch from the folds of soft earth
The grass & mud & water sing a forever contented song
Crickets chime in, a solid golden ring
I wish I could feel their elation
like the Mother when all of nature sings against the stars
I wish it could be like the childhood I think I remember
The earth is tired now
The body erodes & crumbles
I want to disappear inside the happy sounds

The wind whips softly through my fingertips
as I roll down the road over a changing land
Wings spread to the sun, ready
The road still twists & bobs, winds & curves before me
Dreamy pastels still decorate the horizon
Reflecting shadows I have seen
But the familiar earth seasons are changing their patterns, shifting their course
& there’s no telling what could happen

You are a sweet old song my soul hums
I don’t need to know the words

My mind is calmest when surrounded by the distant stillness of space
& the stars keep streaming down
from times forgotten

Blue star exploding
into the night
Where souls are born & die
a hallowed site
Ghost train pulling into my dreams
Make a cherished memory
nothing what it seems
Blue star exploding
into the endless night
Hearts flying everywhere
Hearts emptied of spite
He wants to play beyond the sky
She wants to dance on crystal streets
They’ll ride that train forever
to the place where all souls meet

I cast my love to the wind
My heart’s desires
out to the sky where they belong
over a strange misty horizon
where voices echo from many folds of time
I let it all go, give my heart away
to the mystery that lies within
all souls, having known, for better or for worse

Dark moaning pines
fan out across a tepid sky
Silhouetting dreams in the last of a faded shimmer
Gateway to the stars
& all of the mysteries we share

Special Delivery Message:
Even when you are dying inside
don’t give in to the searing numbness
Just keep on jumping head first into everything
& see it all with love
Be happy to be breathing air & alive in the world
It doesn’t matter where you are or who you’re with
It doesn’t matter what you have or where you go
The point is
With every breath
another chance
to become the full-flowered soul you are
Don’t give in to the sorrow

Violently unhappy ghosts
are quite often mistaken for demons

Standing in the dark wild grasses
beneath moon glow & drenched in bleeding mists
Mysterious shadows dart like deer across the old native mounds
The night shining with a soft golden light
Crystal silence ringing up from behind
the happy frog cries & wind in the pines
I feel again
at one
with
myself

Full moon rises over your house
Illuminating all of the mysteries there
