Schoolhouse Earth

This world is insane
It’s beautiful, it’s cool
Some days you’re the magician
and some days quite the fool
What a baffling place
this schoolhouse Earth
We think we’ve wrapped it up
beginning from birth
We’re born, we grow, we live, we know
We think we know just what it takes
to play the game
to claim the stakes
We’re here, we learn, we work, we earn
We think we have it all to gain
and pretty soon
we’re all in chains
This world can be
a crazy place
We start out crawling
and end up in chase
to the odds, from old time
and through all this hoopla
we miss the sublime
In this insane world
we can’t even see
what hurts our souls
and makes us bleed
But in this world
it may help to remember
that what turns our hearts
to burning embers
What sparks our hopes
into dreams so true
What drives our passion
is invisible too

    Amen … well said! 🙂

  3. “Somedays your the magician” and “Somedays quite the fool” Very true. People should just remember that they’re not always going to be the magician, but that they’re not always going to be the fool either. Great poem.
